Cloth Diapering

If you think of diaper pins and plastic pants when you think of cloth diapering, you have not seen the cloth diapers for today’s parents. The days of origami, accidentally sticking your child with pins, and sloshing diapers in the toilet to rinse them are the thing of the past. Today's cloth diapers are trendy, ecofriendly, affordable and yes EASY!

I think one of the main reasons today's parents choose to cloth diaper is not about the price, but about what they are putting on their baby. I myself would want to wear soft cotton or hemp over plastic. Disposable diapers contain Dioxin, which is a carcinogenic chemical listed by the EPA as the most toxic of all cancer-linked chemicals. They also contain Sodium Polyacrylate (the gel used to keep babies dry and that can leak out in little beads sometimes), which can irritate the skin, eyes, and respitory system. Because cloth diapers allow your baby's skin to breath, diaper rash is more prevented and if they do get one, heels much faster than plastic diapers.

You don't have to be a tree-hugging, earth-conscious parent to enjoy the benefits of cloth diapering (although it doesn't hurt to save several hundred to thousands of dollars and not dump tons of ponds into our landfills...but enough about that). A question that comes up frequently is "So how much money will I really save?"

When we first started researching cloth diapers, it was truly amazing to learn how many different ones were out there. It was like learning another language. We have broken it down for you in our Comparisons of Cloth Diapers to go over each diaper and what the functions are.
